Christian Garin defeats Henri Laaksonen to reach the semifinals of the 2019 US Men's Clay Court Championship in Houston, Texas.

Millennium Estoril Open—Estoril, Portugal

Top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas won his third career title on Sunday in Estoril, Portugal, defeating Pablo Cuevas 6-3, 7-6(4).

Finding his clay-court form with the French Open looming later this month, Tsitsipas struck four aces and won 70 percent of his first serve points during the one hour and 44 minute match. Improving to 2-0 against Cuevas in lifetime meetings, Tsitsipas won his first career clay-court title and second of the season. The 20-year-old had previously won the event in Marseille, France in February.

Cuevas, who was in search of his seventh career title, defeated Frances Tiafoe earlier in the event.

Tsitsipas is currently ranked No. 10 in the world.

BMW Open by FWU—Munich, Germany

Cristian Garin continued his rich form on Tour on Sunday in Munich, Germnay, capturing his second title of the year with a 6-1, 3-6, 7-6(1) victory over Matteo Berrettini.

In an encounter that saw two of the game’s next generation players, it was Garin who began in magnificent form, before Berrettini stormed back to take set two. With everything to play for in set three, Garin showed his mettle late in the set to take home his second title of the season.

Previously winning the Houston title in April, Garin has quietly become one of the dark-horse favorites for the this month’s French Open.

Berrettinti, who had won his maiden title in Budapest, Hungry last week, will also be full of confidence as the clay-court season continues to march on in Madrid and then Roma.
