Sinner Wins Miami Open Title Over Dimitrov; Moves to No. 2 in the World

Miami Open—Miami, Florida

No. 2 seed Jannik Sinner continued his incredible 2024 season on Sunday in Miami, Florida, defeating No. 11 seed Grigor Dimitrov 6-3, 6-1 to capture the Miami Open title.

Winning his first title at the event, Sinner struck four aces, won 88 percent of is first serve points, hit 15 winners and broke serve on four occasions.

Improving to 3-1 against Dimitrov in lifetime meetings, Sinner will move up to No. 2 in the world when Monday’s rankings are released.

The 22-year-old has been in red-hot form this year, winning titles at the Australian Open, Rotterdam Indoors and now Miami.

Sinner, who is 22-1 in 2024, suffered his only loss of the year during the semifinals of the BNP Paribas Open to eventual winner Carlos Alcaraz.

Dimitrov, who has produced arguably the best tennis of his career at the age of 32, was aiming to win his 10th career title. The Bulgarian will move up to No. 9 in the world when the latest rankings are released.

Both Sinner and Dimitrov will next see action at the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters in Monaco beginning on April 7, 2024.

Watch all the action live next week from the ATP Tour on Tennis TV.
