Sinner Captures Halle Crown

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner captured his fourth title of the year in Halle, Germany on Sunday, defeating Hubert Hurkacz 7-6(8), 7-6(2).

Needing one hour and 49 minutes to prevail, Sinner overcame 13 aces by his Polish opponent, added 10 of his own, while winning 94 percent of his first serve points.

Improving to 3-2 against Hurkacz in lifetime meetings, Sinner is now 38-3 on the season. The world’s best player will next set his sights on winning his first Wimbledon title in London, England.

Hurkacz, who was aiming to win his ninth career title and second in Halle, will hit a new career high of No. 7 in the world on Monday.

Paul Wins Queen’s Club Title

No. 5 seed Tommy Paul won the biggest title of his career on Sunday at the Queen’s Club event in London, England, dismissing Italian Lorenzo Musetti 6-1, 7-6(8).

Using his all-court game to great effect against his lower-ranked opponent, Paul struck six aces, won 77 percent of his first serve points and broke serve on three occasions.

Paul, who will be the highest ranked American when the latest rankings are released on Monday, now owns three career titles. He will be ranked No. 12 in the world.

The 27-year-old defeated Jack Draper and Sebastian Korda en-route to the title.

Musetti, who was looking for his third career title, also made the semi-finals of the Stuttgart event in Germany last week.

The 22-year-old will be ranked No. 25 on the computer rankings on Monday.
