BRISBANE INTERNATIONAL PRESENTED BY SUNCORP—BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA

Canadian Milos Raonic began his 2016 season in stellar fashion on Sunday, defeating top seed Roger Federer 6-4, 6-4 to win the Brisbane International.

Hitting six aces and winning 82 percent of his first serve points, Raonic saved the only break point against his serve in the second set, while chalking up one break per set to win the title. Taking home the eighth title of his career, Raonic also captured 250 points for his victory. Currently ranked No. 14 in the world, Raonic will enter the Australian Open next week full of confidence.

AIRCEL CHENNAI OPEN—CHENNAI, INDIA

No. 1 seed Stan Wawrinka won his fourth career title in Chennai, India on Sunday, dismissing Croatian upstart Borna Coric 6-3, 7-5. Needing one hour and 27 minutes to record the 12th title of his career, Wawrinka slammed 15 aces and broke the serve of his 19-year-old opponent on two occasions. Improving to 3-0 in lifetime meetings against Coric, Wawrinka enters the Australian Open in great form. Coric, who was playing in his first-ever career final, continued to show the type of promise that will see him in the top 10 shortly.
