I’m getting mixed messages. How come Serena gets condemned but Kyrgios is exciting for the game? Fognini has made racial slurs on court, do we really want that?

Serena’s action are more about her saying she doesn’t play well when she loses. She can say whatever she wants when she’s on court. Kyrgios always says his opponent’s have played well when he loses. What he said on court wasn’t right and he was fined 10K. Also, he may be further punished for his actions. I think Kyrgios will learn from this and move forward.

I’ve heard Djokovic similar things to what Serena has said. Never heard any complaint about that. I think players are entitled to express their feelings about their loss any way they want. People complain the lack of characters in tennis but when they express themselves, they get condemned. Perhaps there are some deeper issues regarding the criticism of Serena but perhaps this is not the right forum to discuss them. Because Kyrgios is being enabled by his team, I don’t think he will learn from this incident.

There are no deeper issues about Serena at all. Djokovic has said many stupid things as well and we’ve talked about them too. Serena is the greatest women’s players ever in my mind but I think she needs to ease up on saying she never plays well. I also don’t like it when Nadal says everyone is the best player in the world and he’s the underdog. In saying that, Nadal is also one of the greatest players ever. Period.
