World No. 1 Novak Djokovic announced on Saturday that he will not take part in the 2024 Mutua Madrid Open in Spain due to a non medical reason.

The Serb, who has not won an event all season, has only played in four tournaments. The 36-year-old will look to regroup at the upcoming Rome Masters in Italy.

See you soon, @DjokerNole ?

Djokovic has clearly set his intentions on the Grand Slam events in 2024, as well as the Olympic Games in Paris, France later this year. He has yet to win an Olympic Gold medal. The only major title absent from his decorated collection of titles.

The Serbian last played at the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters in Monaco, losing in the semifinals to Norwegian Casper Ruud. He also lost in the third-round of the BNP Paribas Open in March to Luca Nardi, the semifinals of the Australian Open to eventual winner Jannik Sinner and to Australian Alex de Minaur at the United Cup to start the year.

Watch all the action live next week from the Mutua Madrid Masters on Tennis TV.

Get ready for the year’s second Major today, with great tickets to the French Open in Paris. Rafael Nadal is set to take part in his most successful event for perhaps the last time in his illustrious career.
