Swiatek Wins Third French Open Title Over Muchova

Roland Garros—Paris, France

Top seed Iga Swiatek won her third French Open title in the last four years on Saturday in Paris, France, defeating Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.

Needing two hours and 46 minutes to seal her victory, Swiatek struck 1 ace, hit 19 winners and broke serve on seven occasions.

Capturing four Grand Slams in total, Swiatek will remain on top of the WTA rankings for the foreseeable future.

Muchova, who was playing her first-ever Major final, defeated No. 2 seed Ayrna Sabalenka in an epic three hour and 13 minute semifinal.

The 26-year-old from the Czech Republic will be ranked No. 16 in the world on Monday.

Swiatek will now set her sights on the third Major of the year at Wimbledon.

Sunday’s schedule in Paris will feature No. 3 seed Novak Djokovic attempting to break the all-time Major record against No. 4 seed Casper Ruud.

Djokovic, who is tied with Rafael Nadal at 22 Majors, will be in search of his third title in Paris. The 36-year-old would also own at least three titles at every Grand Slam event if he were to win on Sunday.

Ruud, who has now made the finals of three of the last five Majors, lost to Nadal in last year’s final.

Djokovic owns a 4-0 head-to-head lead against Ruud in lifetime meetings.

Tickets for this year’s Wimbledon Championships are available through P1 Travel.
