Alexander Zverev Wins BMW Open; Cilic Claims Istanbul Title Over Raonic; Carreno Busta Captures Estoril Open

BMW Open by FWU—Munich, Germany

Hometown favorite Alexander Zverev captured the BMW Open in Munich, Germany on Sunday, defeating Guido Pella 6-4, 6-3. Needing one hour and 13 minutes to claim his third career title, Zverev slammed eight aces, won 81 percent of his second serve points and broke serve on three occasions. Claiming the title in Montpellier earlier this year, Zverev continued his strong march toward a top 15 finish in 2017.

Pella, who was in search of his fist career title, fell to 9-9 on the season.

TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open—Istanbul, Turkey

No. 2 seed Marin Cilic dismissed top seed Milos Raonic 7-6(3), 6-3 on Sunday to claim the Istanbul Open in Turkey. Facing off for the third time in their careers, Cilic dominated the first set tiebreaker before storming out to a 4-1, second set lead. In a match that lasted just over two hours, Cilic saved seven break points, while winning 82 percent of his first serve points.

Taking home his 17th career title, Cilic improved to 11-8 on the season.

Raonic, who was aiming to win his first-ever clay-court title, returned to action after withdrawing from the Miami Open in March.

Millennium Estoril Open—Estoril, Portugal

Top seed Pablo Carreno Busta continued his strong year on the ATP World Tour on Sunday, dispatching No. 3 seed Gilles Muller 6-2, 7-6(5) to claim his third career title.

Showing off his baseline guile early in the match, Carreno Busta dominated the first set before being forced into a competitive tiebreaker in the second set. Adding his first career clay-court title to his two hard-court victories in 2016, Carreno Busta improved to 22-11 in 2017.

Muller, who was hoping to win his second title of the year, defeated Kevin Anderson in the semifinals. The 33-year-old from Luxembourg fell to 1-6 in career championship matches.
